Wilmot J. Gravenslund is co-founder and Director of The Corlund Group, where he specializes in working with senior executives to develop new capabilities that respond to marketplace and strategic changes. Mr. Gravenslund is particularly skilled at facilitating agreement among senior executives and Boards of Directors when highly sensitive business issues must be confronted in order to solve complex organizational and leadership problems. He has worked extensively in the assessment of organizations, leadership teams, and individual leaders for their capabilities to execute dramatic growth strategies. He is currently performing organizational assessments and executive coaching assignments for organizations in the retail, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors.

His clients have included such corporations as La-Z-Boy, Alegent Health, Catholic Health Initiatives, American Hospital Association, Provena Health, Faith Popcorn’s BrainReserve, Federated Department Stores, Idex Corporation, Sierra Health, BlueCross/ BlueShield of Massachusetts, Shore Memorial Hospital, Nashua Corporation, Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Hercules, Montell (subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell), Cordis Corporation, Telcordia Technologies, Grace, Burson-Marsteller, and other corporations experiencing organizational or leadership changes.

Representative engagements include redesigning the corporate structure of a medical products business to support the company’s goal to triple revenues in four years; evaluating the leadership capabilities of a major transportation corporation to identify opportunities for improved executive team decision-making and enhanced leadership performance; diagnosing cultural and organizational obstacles to the strategic vision of a major utilities company’s new CEO; facilitating the Executive Committee meetings of an insurance and medical benefits provider to re-focus and energize the senior executive team around critical corporate goals; and organizing and leading activities to align senior management teams of three business units involved in an employee leveraged buy-out.


Mr. Gravenslund has also worked on similar issues with a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University), John F. Kennedy Center of Performing Arts, the Boston Private Industry Council, and Commonwealth Corporation. He has been a co-author of an article published in The Corporate Board governance journal and co-authored a monograph published by the Center for Healthcare Governance in 2006.

Before creating The Corlund Group, Mr. Gravenslund was a co-founder of Korn/Ferry Organizational Consulting, where he worked with senior executives on issues related to leadership assessment and development, governance, and change management. Earlier he was a partner at Harbridge House, Inc., where he participated in a variety of educational and organizational change engagements helping senior executive teams to confront live business issues in conference settings. His professional experience also includes the financial management and oversight of a family-owned retail and real estate corporation in the state of Washington. As an offshoot to his professional interests, Mr. Gravenslund has served as a discussion leader at an annual leadership seminar sponsored for high-school students by the Washington State Principals’ Association.

Mr. Gravenslund holds an M.B.A. degree in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago and a B.A. degree in government from Harvard College. He is an avid student of the Supreme Court and political movements and contributes his time to the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
